mountain boarding

Stance - first you need to identify which is your primary leg for example, are you a right or left legged person. Once established which leg is your primairy, most people use their stronger leg on the back of the board which is mainly used for support, but i recommend you try both choices to actually see what is more comfortable for you.

When you are riding the ideal position is to have your legs somewhat bent which provides more balance because it has lower center of gravity and also while at it your legs act out as a suspension to your body. the perfect stance of the board is when your shoulders are parallel to you mountain board directly aligned with your feet and the deck, also having your head slightly towards the direction of momentum.

Weight distribution - It is important that while your riding you have more weight on the front leg than on the back one, in order for more control of the board.  You may notice that you tend to lean back while going downhill and that is because a natural effect of your brain for example when you walk downhill your body is usually tend to lean back because if you lean forward your weight will push you down causing you to start running or to say increase in speed. However in mountain boarding it is more recommended to lean forward on the front leg while riding downhill for more control of the board and for increasing the speed.

To have more weight on the front leg all you have to do is bend it a little more than the back one. One tool in checking your correct position while riding is if you are seeing your front leg or not while looking down, you have the correct posture on the board if you cant see your front leg as the knee pad will be in your way. Also remember if your seeing your front foot then that means you front leg is not bent down enough and because of that you are much more likely to lose balance and therefore lose control falling backwards.
