Turns to stop - The idea of stopping by making a turn  works both when going up and down hill, the process of stopping by turning while going up hill requires space to start and complete the turn because you need to run out of momentum to completely stop while turning.

The Toe-side J Turn - in mountain boarding in order to do a toe-side turn you will first need a-lot of speed. While riding get your hips out over your toes, your toe-side stop will complete when you finish the turn by going heads up hill and comes to a stop. This is one of the easier techniques of stopping but there is a need of commitment of turning and holding until you come to a stop.

Heel-side J turn - heel-side j turns are similar to the toe-side j turns stop. in order to do a heel-side j turn stop you need speed, the right posture like hips positioning which is having them over your heels, to complete the heel-side turn you need turn until the board comes to a stop. the heel-side and toe-side turns are worth practicing because they can come as a very useful method in emergency stops, for example if you need an instant stop and or you are running out of room for boarding heel-side J turn can be a hero in some circumstances.

Power-slides - if you are in a need of a instant stop because you are running out of space/room or coming to the end of the riding slope, power-slides are definitely the best way to do it. They are similar to the ice skating power-slide where you turn to your side and push down into the board with all the weight leaving it no option but to scrape the terrain you are on whether its a off road or on road it works. In order for a power-slide to even work you need speed, confidence and determination because you will fall if you are not sure about what you are doing, which in some cases can be very dangerous, practice makes everything easier for you, intelligence is power and you cannot know something that you haven't tried.

NO-HAND Heel-side Power-slide STOP - Get a significant amount of speed, bend down lowish and lean back as far as you can, and make sure you have your hands placed on the ground by the heel-side of the board. You can balance yourself by pulling or pushing your feet which in affection gives the tyres less or more traction.
